...And the end is here.

This blog is officially being closed out.  I'm starting my new blog... cause I can't break tradition.

If you want you can follow me here.

Keep on running... and don't forget to do things you shouldn't do because sometimes... it's just fun.

November...

Whoa, where has this year gone?

I want my bed back and my couch...  I've got an empty apartment and my bags packed.  Now it's a matter of getting the dogs squared away.

Tomorrow I'll be going for an 8 mile morning run.  I'm ready to get back into shape and I've taken enough time off since the marathon...

Its a Baileys and crushed ice sort of night.

I have just one room left to pack up.  I'm happy that I have to do it myself.  It makes me go through everything that I own and get rid of items I don't use... don't need in the house anymore.  It's also very boring.  Just add some Baileys and crushed ice to the mix maybe a few tunes and a black dog that likes to ensure you're not packing away his toys and it's quite pleasant, to be honest.

My time in D.C. has come to an end.  With that in mind I would like to start the posts where I go thru what I love and hate about the area I'm living/leaving in... as I have done in blogs past.

DC has never been on my list of places to live or settle down.  I have found that I do like it here. I like going to the National Gallery of Art whenever I want, I love running over the memorial bridge, I like sitting on the back steps of Lincoln and people watching, I like going on a date and puking my dinner up at the WW2 memorial, classy... (can you believe the man still talks to me?  I can't.).

I love my friends here...Old and New... they've led me through some very tough times and for that I couldn't possibly thank them enough.

Marine Corps Marathon #3

I completed my 5th marathon on Sunday, 25 October 2009.  It will be the last race I ever run on this particular day and in this city.

First it was my ex's (ex husband - not boyfriend because who really cares about that?) birthday so I thought about that.  I contemplated what the appropriate thing would be to do.  Email a Happy Birthday, Facebook message him?  I didn't do anything if you're wondering.  I thought about it though... mile 15, yeah, it sucked.

Second,  I'm over seeing the sights - Haines point, the National Mall, Georgetown, I'm officially OVER IT. Good thing I have about 9 days left here in the district.

Third, way too many people this year.  I was on pace with the pacers for a 3:30 but I had to stop and pee at mile 10 and decided that I was over marathon running and trying to re-qualify for Boston... (I'm already registered anyhow but I thought I would try to beat my time last year.  Being sick did not help.)

Forth, the beer at mile 22... yeah I drank it.  Yeah, it was delicious.

Fifth, I ate ice cream for dinner tonight...(totally off topic) it was also delicious.

Goodbye Texas

I'll be honest... I had no intention of ever getting Texas a chance. I hated it before I even landed in it. I had no choice though. Work is work. Anyway, I will say that I liked my hotel and the fact that the treadmills were amazing. I've never seen anything like them. They had these new life fitness treadmills with all this crazy gadgety stuff on it. I could change my view to anything I wanted... neat.

The Marine Corps Marathon is on Sunday... I haven't ran since Monday... the Hip is hurting like crazy. I jumped on the elliptical for the past two days for two hours... This is going to be the best marathon ever because I know it's going to be painful. Bring it...

Also... Don't forget to remember the Alamo. We got a private viewing on Monday and I got yelled at for trying to take a picture (inside)...  Because it might cause some sort of damage?  Not to be mistaken by the kids that carved their intials into the stone... Whatever.

We then tried to watch Monday night football and apparently the bartenders didn't really want to turn the volume on for us - then tried to explain what a sports bar was to me.  I wanted to knock her into tomorrow.

Texas sucks and I can't wait to be back in DC.

Hip Pain...

I have a nagging pain in my hip. I don't know what to do with it other than put heat strips on it... I took a day off from my last run. I think I had to re-group because it sucked so bad. Tonight I hit 8 miles in 62 minutes. That's 2 minutes slower than usual but I'm not going to complain...

Something I like...

This past weekend I was in NY... and a friend took me for a trail run. Who knew NY had such amazing trails! Not me. Just another reason for me to fall in love with that state. Anyway, I thought I was going to die for the first two miles and I had to stop and walk... believe it. I was sucking wind... it was tough. I'm glad it was only 4.75 miles. Still with the marathon coming up I have my work cut out.

Before I left I got to check out the local running store... I saw these. I've never seen them in real life but boy I really wanted to buy a pair. They had them in pink too. I didn't buy them because the real need was for a headband with a cut out for my pony tail. I love it... and now I'm off to run and my ears will be nice and toasty.

Heres a song for ya.
